Volunteer Program

Bikur-Cholim-Volunteers.jpg

Volunteer once a year or once a week. We have opportunities to meet every schedule. New volunteers create a volunteer account and then sign up for a virtual one hour training. During this training, you will learn more about the many different types of ways you can help others in your community.

If you’re a teen, we have special opportunities just for you. Please sign up here. Are you a school, business or synagogue group looking for a one time group activity, click here.

If you are currently a volunteer you can access your account here:

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Two women, one younger and one older, standing outside in a backyard with trees and a wooden fence, smiling at the camera, dressed in casual outdoor clothing.

    Senior Social Club

It is vital that seniors feel connected to their community for their mental health. If you enjoy putting a party together, then the Senior Club may be the perfect opportunity for you.

  • Two women smiling and cooking in a kitchen. The woman in front is holding a plate of grilled fish, wearing a gray shirt and a white apron. The woman behind her has dark hair and is wearing a dark blue patterned shirt with a white apron. The kitchen has wooden cabinets, a stainless steel refrigerator, and a countertop with a pasta maker.

    Meir L'Olam Hospital Support

Our hospital volunteers help to maintain our BCGW hospital rooms with kosher food and comfort items specifically geared toward our Jewish clients.

  • A woman standing next to a black car, holding a plastic bag with a cross symbol on it.

    Lunzer Food Deliveries

Our volunteers deliver thousands of kosher meals each year to patients, older adults, and caregivers. These opportunities can be contactless or include a brief visit.

  • Two smiling women, one elderly with short gray hair wearing a pink shirt and a black hat, and the other middle-aged with glasses and blonde hair, wearing a purple top, posing together indoors.

    Visitation

They say laughter is the best medicine and we take this notion to heart. Our volunteers host virtual or in-person visits with our clients to ensure that they never feel alone.

  • A smiling elderly woman with a nasal cannula and an oxygen tube, sitting in a hospital bed, holding a spoon. Next to her, a woman with short gray hair, smiling, leaning close to her in a grey cardigan. The background shows framed pictures on the wall.

    Smilemakers Program

Our Smilemaker volunteers do whatever it takes to put a smile on your face. Volunteers are encouraged to share their suggestions, but previous volunteers have taken clients on bike rides and to sporting events.

  • An elderly woman with glasses, sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car with the door open, using a walker nearby, in a residential neighborhood with other parked cars and trees.

    Transportation to Medical Appointments

Can you spare a lift? Our volunteers don’t just offer clients a ride to the doctor’s office. The car ride is another opportunity to make a connection so our clients feel like a friend is doing them a favor.

  • Red brick house with a dark green front door, surrounded by trees and greenery, with a brick pathway leading to the entrance.

    Bernard Creeger Bikur Cholim House

Volunteers meet with guests, give tours, stock the pantry, tend to the Healing Garden, and coming soon in 2022, prepare meals for patients and caregivers in the new cooking kitchen.

  • Two smiling men standing in a storage room surrounded by walkers and wheelchairs, with shelves holding more mobility aids.

    Group Activities

Planning a corporate event, simcha, school, or synagogue activity? Volunteer for a group activity and do good together! Examples include organizing the equipment shed, making packages for hospital staff, and much more.
